Branding and title
What the system title setting changes, how the browser tab title is built, and what does not change with it.
"System title" is one field on the general settings screen. It fills one slot: the brand slot of the browser tab title.
The tab title rule
A tab title is three slots joined by a middot: what you are looking at, then where it lives, and last the system title.
Most specific first, brand last. That is not a matter of taste: a tab truncates from the end, so whatever identifies this tab has to be at the front — otherwise it is the half that disappears the moment a second tab opens.
| Screen | First slot | Second slot | Brand |
|---|---|---|---|
| Server list | Servers | — | Regulaxy |
| Server record | SRV-014 | Servers | Regulaxy |
| A settings screen | Roles and permissions | Settings | Regulaxy |
Two slots before the brand is the ceiling. A third is already text no tab displays.
The page names in the title come from the sidebar. Renaming a page in the sidebar editor renames it in the tab too — they are not two places to maintain.
What does not change
| Changes with the setting | Does not |
|---|---|
| The brand slot of the tab title, on every page | The mark and the product name at the top of the sidebar |
| The login screen |
The title is read from a setting in the database, and its default value is fixed at deployment. A change applies to new users immediately; an open tab picks it up on the next navigation.
