Presentations

A presentation is built from the same widgets that sit on a dashboard, and exported to PowerPoint where the charts are real charts — re-colorable and editable inside PowerPoint — and not pictures of charts.

Whoever may see dashboards may open a presentation; authoring one needs the same edit permission dashboards need.

A widget's data is computed when the presentation is saved and stored with it — the caption beside the item says so, so it is not taken for a live view.

A slide marked Opens a section gets a divider slide before it in the exported deck.

Editing

Items are edited in place: text size, bold, italic, underline, color, alignment and paragraph direction. In free-edit mode any item can be moved and resized, and overlapping items reordered — bring to front, forward, backward, send to back. There is undo and redo.

In the slide strip a slide can be moved up or down, duplicated and deleted. Hide the slide from exports leaves it editable as usual and takes it out of every export — useful for a slide that is not ready yet.

Speaker notes are written to the notes page of the PowerPoint file and do not appear on the slide itself.

The organization's design template

Most organizations already have a PowerPoint design of their own. An administrator imports such a file as a template, then classifies each layout inside it: cover slide · content slide · section divider · two columns · image · blank · not used. A layout marked "not used" exists in the file and presentations will not be built on it.

After the mapping, anyone building a presentation can pick the template, and one can be set as the default. If the mapping is incomplete, the screen says so.

Importing, mapping, renaming and deleting a template are reserved for administrators: a template changes how every exported presentation in the installation looks. The imported file cannot be downloaded back out of the system.

Presenting and exporting

Present full screen spreads the presentation across the display. Export produces it in any format the server can produce — see Exporting to CSV and Excel on what is available and why.

A presentation is also one of the scheduled report subjects: it can be sent every month, with the reporting period on the cover slide.

Limits

Up to 40 slides and up to ten items per slide, and both limits are stated at the point of insertion rather than at save time. Presentation size is bounded too — one that grows too large, usually because of an image, is refused on save with an explanation instead of being stored partially.

A presentation is private or shared, exactly like a dashboard.
